Not His Character

Do you ever think about the fact that we can’t see most of what is there? Our knowing is limited to what we do see. We can plant the seed, water the seed, cultivate the soil, study all the data to bring forth the best harvest yet at the end of the day ultimately, we are not granted the power to make the seed sprout. Only God! If a farmer does not recognize the Power of God in his business, he may not last long… the stress of the unknown may suck him under… weather, pests, drought… can be managed but are out of the control of the farmer.

We all must recognize that all blessings are undeserved gifts. We can manage life to set up a sweet outcome but ultimately there is so much we cannot control. God is the decision maker. He knows the plan. We have no power to get in his way, except to limit the consequences of his love.

The enemy works to snag us and sometimes through our ignorance, sometimes through our sinful nature we follow the evil one. God does not step in the way… He has given us free will. He has made it so we choose Him. He doesn’t make us follow him. That would go against his character. He invites and welcomes us…

So when people ask the question why do bad things happen to good people… there are many possible answers…one could be that the good person was moving outside their purpose… God does not want to allow that to continue. The further the good person gets away from God the harder the awakened transformation. God will permit pain and suffering not as punishment (again, not in his character) but for the benefit of bringing his beloved son or daughter home to Him. He cares more about restoring the relationship than the temporary pain and suffering that occurs when one is leaving his protective covering.

Understanding this mystery builds trust in our incredibly Creator. The One who wastes nothing. The one who cares for the smallest of seeds… The one who yearns for his people to become One! All through love, never shame or blame or unforgiveness because that is not his character!
